MimicWorkshop

Licensing & Intellectual Property

Officially licensed. Properly attributed.

MimicWorkshop is a curated production house, not a marketplace or a file repository. We manufacture physical tabletop products under formal commercial license, and every item carries clear, verifiable attribution.

Our commercial merchant licenses

MimicWorkshop holds official commercial merchant licenses to physically produce and sell finished models designed by Cast N Play (miniatures and terrain) and Modi Case (Modi Innovations storage systems). These agreements authorize us to print, finish, and distribute physical goods derived from the designers' intellectual property — under a single-provider model that guarantees a consistent art style, controlled licensing, and predictable production quality.

What your purchase includes — and what it does not

Your purchase grants you ownership of the physical printed model only. The underlying digital STL architecture — the source geometry, meshes, and design files — remains the exclusive intellectual property of the original designer and their licensors. It is never sold, transferred, or licensed to the buyer.

Accordingly, the following are strictly prohibited: reproduction or re-manufacture of the model for resale; digital scanning, photogrammetry, or reverse-engineering of any product into a digital file; redistribution or sharing of STL or derivative files; and the digital resale of the underlying file architecture in any form. Products are sold for personal, end-use enjoyment at the tabletop.

MimicWorkshop first-party lines

Accessories, painting supplies, and curated bundles are MimicWorkshop first-party products, designed and curated in-house. A bundle may contain licensed Cast N Play or Modi Case content, but the bundle itself is always a MimicWorkshop curated kit; component attribution is preserved at the item level.

Customer-supplied files & prototyping work

For our on-demand printing and technical CAD prototyping services, the customer is solely responsible for holding all rights to any file or design they submit. By supplying a model for production, you warrant that you own it or are licensed to reproduce it. MimicWorkshop manufactures the file exactly as provided and does not acquire, resell, or redistribute customer intellectual property.

How attribution is guaranteed

Attribution is not a label applied by hand — it is enforced structurally by our catalog system. A product's provider is derived from its category, so a miniature can never be mis-credited to a storage designer, and no unlicensed content can enter the catalog. Every product page displays its designer and a verified commercial-license status.
